When I think of education, the education of children between the ages of 0 -18 specifically, I always think of ‘an aid to life’ or at the very least ‘a preparation for life.’
This is what our ancient ones did, our ancestors all over the world, way before the industrial revolution that gave birth to the present world order of educating a child the way we now do.
All they did was to prepare the next generation for living a meaningful existence.
A lot of us think that the what and the how we educate the young is the way it has been, should and will always be!
Not so true, but then my message today is not to argue this point, but to call our attention to preparing the child for life tomorrow, as an adult.
What will this child need to be a happy, joyful, and impacting adult of his own time?
Please think about that.
Give them the basics that will enable them to gain independence physically and mentally, and help them to learn about their environment and the world.
Allow the child to follow their inner teacher instead of deciding every piece of their life for them.
I am concerned that our children though they can speak out more than the older generations ever could, the control of education on the mind of the child will create more problems for future adults than help them.
I am your Mama Monte calling on all educators and parents to find the answers to the question:
What will this child need to become a happy, joyful, and impacting adult of his own time?
