Are we Rushians?

Yes that’s right Rushians? I do not claim to be the inventor of this pun. Our dear Prof. Wole Soyinka was the first person I remember asking this question a long time ago. Then it was our inability to take our turn in a queue that was the problem, but now it’s the explosive situation with parents and schools that we must seriously concern ourselves with.

A lot of parents have already planned out how their sons and daughters will graduate at age 16! They will not hear of anything else except what they have earmarked as the perfect plan! And may our Lord help anyone who dears to disagree with their plan. Talk about lopsided intentional parenting? This is it!

So now we have 4 year olds in Primary one doing Primary 2 work!

Primary 4 students enrolled in JSS1 instead of moving on to Primary 5!

Worst still are the children who are arriving at Secondary school who cannot read properly or understand simple arithmetic operations!

This is the genesis of my question:

Nigerians are we RUSHIANS?

Where on earth do we think we can rush to with our children’s lives and succeed, ?

A friend sent this to our group this morning and it is so apt:

Someone made my day by posting this today..

New York is 3 hours ahead of California,

but it does not make California slow.

Someone graduated at the age of 22,

but waited 5 years before securing a good job!

Someone became a CEO at 25,

and died at 50.

While another became a CEO at 50,

and lived to 90 years.

Someone is still single,

while someone else got married.

Obama retires at 55,

but Trump starts at 70.

Absolutely everyone in this world works based on their Time Zone.

People around you might seem to go ahead of you,

some might seem to be behind you.

But everyone is running their own RACE, in their own TIME.

Don’t envy them or mock them.

They are in their TIME ZONE, and you are in yours!

Life is about waiting for the right moment to act.

So, RELAX.

You’re not LATE.

You’re not EARLY.

You are very much ON TIME, and in your TIME ZONE Destiny set up for you.

In conclusion don’t rush to get and don’t be sad if things turn out to be slow.
In Gods hands time is a tool . He makes all things beautiful in His time.

WhatsApp has its gems, this is one of them.

Remember dear parent the rush is not key. Understanding is key. Make sure the foundation is solid. Step by step, slow and steady the race of life is run and won.
